@ComputerNerd08 Hi Tom, Thanks. I appreciate your feedback. :-)

  3. geebones Says:

you have to pay for mamp right

  4. creativetoria Says:

@geebones You can get Mamp for Free,, but there is a charge for Mamp Pro. You can install WordPress on your mac using the standard version of Mamp, it’s just a slightly different process. If you have any questions let me know. I would be happy to make a video about installing WordPress using the standard version of Mamp if you would find it useful. :-)

    Hi,

I followed this tutorial to set up a localhost with MAMP but I’m having trouble editing the .php file for WordPress (I’m trying to create a theme). I’ve tried both Coda and Dreamweaver CS4 to do this but the files are all locked and displays the files as “read-only.”

I’m guessing it’s a problem with my MAMP. I believe I granted all access to myself as it is indicated in the “Priveleges”

Any tips? I’ve been running in circles searching for this on the web. =/

    Best regards!

My browser isn’t finding the folder I made with the wordpress files, the next step should include wordpress asking me to create the WP-Config file. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Nice demo, but can you go through that with multiple sites? Mamp pro shows how to set up multiple sites but only the first one works. I can’t find the answers anywhere and I bet I’m missing something easy.

@Seaindigodeep. Try going into the HTDOCS folder and ctrl + Click and select Get Info. Then scrol down to the permissions at the bottom and unlock. You may notice that _www has permissions but your computer name does not. So then click on the plus underneath to add a new person to give permission to and select your computer name and grant it both Read and Write access. Then click on the wheel icon with the down arrow and select “Apply to enclosed items”. Lock the security again.

I haven’t been able to open the ‘create a configuration file’ page – it just sends me to my ISP’s ‘website does not exist’ page.

MY blog on my mac, ends up having to have 8888 after the domain name and before the config file.

other wise, if it does not have that it gets those two dreaded words IT WORKS.

I am not sure what I did wrong, latest version of Mac, latest mamp pro, and latest wordress.

Thanks for you help, I really appreciate what you do.
